After three years with Americorps and Citizen Schools, she is at the Rhode Island School of Deisgn getting her masters in Museum Education.

How We Met

Both Matt and Rebecca belonged to their college's glee club. Every year Smith and WPI hold a joint concert for Christmas Vespers. Matt was being housed at Rebecca's dorm for the concert weekend and they hit it off - although a relationship did not begin until a couple of years later after Rebecca returned from studying abroad in Edinburgh.

Our Engagement Story

We have climbed several 4000 foot mountains in NH with our friends Ben and Jen. Neither of us really enjoy the 4000 foot climb, but we love the views and being outdoors. Matt suggested that perhaps we should climb New England's 100 shortest mountains instead of these trecherous climbs. Seemed like a great idea to Rebecca and so we set off for our first mountain on Saturday, June 24th. Matt suggested Mt. Nanotook as our first mountain, which happens to overlook Northampton, MA and the Connecticut River (where Smith is located and therefore - where we first met). The mosquitos that day were horrendous. Clouds and clouds of them were everywhere. Rebecca booked it up the mountain to escape the mosquitos despite Matt's hope for a romantic stroll up the short mountain. Once at the top, we admired the view together until Matt asked "So - are you ready for another 99 of these?" Rebecca, turning to head back down the mountain said "Not if there are mosquitos like this, no." Matt said "come back here. . . ." and when she turned back around, he was on one knee with the ring in hand and said "What if it took a lifetime together?" Rebecca immediately said yes, kissed Matt and they both literally skipped down the mountain together.
